Renault Mégane confirmed for TCR UK debut

Alex Morgan has confirmed that he will give the Renault Mégane TCR its debut in the TCR UK series this weekend.

Although Morgan appeared on leaked version of the entry list for the third meeting of the season, his participation was dependent on a successful test with the car at Hockenheim, which took place on Tuesday.

With that test having gone to plan, Morgan and the Wolf-Power Racing team will join the UK grid to continue with test and development work on the Mégane, which has been developed and built by the Swiss-based Vukovic Motorsport squad.

One of the newest TCR cars on the grid, the Mégane debuted in TCR Germany in the series opener at Oschersleben before Wolf-Power Racing took the decision to miss round two at Most – with plans to return to the German series for round three at the Red Bull Ring.

“It’s really exciting to be back racing in the UK, particularly at Brands Hatch where I’ve won three of the four races I’ve entered,” he said. “I’m helping to develop the Mégane TCR and so it’ll be interesting to see how the car performs after the recent changes.

“We have to remember that the Renault is still new and so we have to be realistic about our chances of a good result. The car’s build quality is great but we need to see where we are in terms of speed. We won’t know for certain until qualifying on Saturday but being back on home soil will certainly be an incentive for me to do well and get a decent result from the weekend.”

Whilst the focus remains on the TCR Germany programme, Morgan may contest selected TCR UK events in the future.
