Cupra pair join forces ahead of TCR UK return
Cupra pair Stewart Lines and Carl Swift have announced that they are to join forces for the remainder of the TCR UK series season.
The duo had started the season running as the only two cars in the DSG Trophy, with Lines being run by his Maximum Motorsport team and Swift being entered by his own Endurance Financial Racing outfit.
However, both drivers then elected to switch to a sequential gearbox, with the time taken to complete the upgrades meaning neither was able to make the trip to Scotland for the second meeting of the year.
With the work completed on both cars in time for round three at Brands Hatch, the decision has now been taken to join forces for the remainder of the season with the two Cupras now being run as a joint Maximum Motorsport entry.
“Carl and I both felt that pooling our resources and running under the Maximum Motorsport banner was a no-brainer,” Lines said. “We both run the same cars and we are both determined to fight for results in TCR UK. Now that we’ve got the sequential gearboxes fitted, we can take the fight to the likes of Dan Lloyd from Brands Hatch onwards. We’ve had a chance to run the cars with the new transmissions and we were delighted at the difference.
“We were both sorry to have to miss Knockhill, but there was no way we would have been able to get the work done. Coming back to the series as a two-car team means we can share certain costs and work together, rather than race as two individuals. It’s true that two heads are better than one!”
