Gordon Shedden elated with career-best qualifying in the Netherlands

Gordon Shedden qualified his Team WRT in third position for the first race of the weekend at Zandvoort, the best-placed of the eight Audi RS 3 LMSs entered for the weekend, and will start just ahead of team-mate Jean-Karl Vernay for Race 1.

After a difficult race last week at the Nurburgring, the triple BTCC champion is happy with the turnaround in performance of the car.

“What a difference a week makes and to qualify third, our best position so far this year,” said Shedden.

“It feels really good with the work we’ve done with the car, and the recent (BoP) changes which means we can actually fight which is what we want to do.

“It was a scrappy session, my second run wasn’t good, but the third one was really good. It’s just so close and when I saw the time pop up on the dashboard I thought it was a good time but obviously not quite good enough for pole, but much faster than we’ve been so far so I’m very happy.”
