Esteban Guerrieri furious with the stewards after Germany Race 3
Münnich Motorsport’s Esteban Guerrieri was downbeat after the Nürburgring races, despite winning the second race. The Argentinian as was livid with the stewards after they handed him a ten-second penalty after his pass on Norbert Michelisz’s Hyundai at Aremberg.
The Honda driver made his way quickly past the Boutsen Ginion Honda of Benjamin Lessennes at the start, before making a dive down the inside of Michelisz’s car at Turn 25, with Michelisz then running wide and dropping four positions.
Guerrieri went on to finish fourth in the race, charging past the Volkswagen of Rob Huff at the start of lap three before his penalty was applied which dropped him to ninth in the final reckoning.
“The move was definitely OK. It was the best move I did ever,” said Guerrieri. “He just left me the space, there was nothing else to do, it was my space.”
Guerrieri didn’t discover he’d received a penalty until after the race had finished.
“The team told me I was under investigation so keep pushing, so I thought after the race we’d go talk to the stewards, but then I found out after the race it was decided already. It’s just disgusting, I feel really bad.”
