Jean-Karl Vernay and Team WRT confirm TCR Europe assault

Team WRT has confirmed it will compete in the 2018 TCR Europe Series with 2017 International Series champion Jean-Karl Vernay.

The move will see the Belgian squad and Vernay double their efforts this year as they chase success in both the World Touring Car Cup and the new European Series.

Vernay currently sits seventh in the WTCR having taken a win during the season opener in Morocco.

WRT, who also run an Audi RS 3 LMS for chief sponsor Lukoil in the TCR Russia series with Aleksei Dudukalo, will run a single Audi RS 3 LMS in TCR Europe, with Vernay’s programme being made possible thanks to the fact that there are is only one clash with the WTCR.

That clash comes when TCR Europe and WTCR race on the same bill at the Circuit Zandvoort later this month, where Vernay will contest the three WTCR races but not the two scheduled for TCR Europe.
