Nicola Baldan to defend TCR Italy title in a Hyundai
Nicola Baldan will switch to a Hyundai i30 N TCR for the defence of his TCR Italy title this season.
Baldan won the title last year at the wheel of a SEAT León TCR, but has now secured what he feels is the ‘best option’ when it comes to challenging for success on track this season.
The Pit Lane Competizioni team will continue to run the car, with Baldan keen to add outings in the new TCR Europe Series if possible.
“I’m over the moon and I can’t wait for the start of the season,” he said. “The Hyundai is the best option I could dream of; on top if this I know the team well and I’m confident that together we can perform on top, like in the two previous seasons.
“We will test the car before the opening event and this will help us to get to know it. I was impressed when I visited the Hyundai Motorsport and met engineer Andrea Adamo. I wish I can become a regular member of the Hyundai family. My aim is to grow up with them and reach new goals.
“TCR Italy is growing and to stay ahead you must have the best possible package. I would like to take part in the TCR Europe series too, but for the time being I’m focused on the Italian championship.”
