Attila Tassi confirmed for home race in Hungary as second wild card in WTCR

18-year-old Hungarian Attila Tassi will race at the Hungaroring as the second wild card confirmed for his home race in the World Touring Car Cup, driving a brand-new Honda Civic Type R TCR.

Tassi finished second in the 2017 TCR International Series standings to Jean-Karl Vernay, the latter already a race winner in WTCR, and will return to the circuit where he won both races last year at the wheel of a Honda Civic, then run by Norbert Michelisz’s M1RA team.

The Hungarian will be targeting repeat success at his home race, in the sixth of the new tenth-generation Honda Civics on the grid.

“I’m incredibly excited to announce that I will race at the Hungaroring WTCR event with HELL Racing Team,” said Tassi.

“It’s the result of a lot of hard work behind the scenes by a lot of people and I’m thrilled that this has all come together. To race in front of my home crowd in an FIA World Cup event is a dream come true. The level of competition will be higher than anything I’ve experienced in my racing career, but I’m not going there to make up the numbers and will instead push for the absolute best result I can possibly achieve. I can’t wait.”
