Denis Dupont ruled out of Morocco races after qualifying smash
Comtoyou Racing driver Denis Dupont has been ruled out of the rest of the Marrakech race weekeend after a high-speed shunt in qualifying, when the Belgian hit the wall hard at Turn 1 due to an apparent brake failure.
Brakes have been a commonplace issue for all of the teams this weekend, with the Circuit Moulay El Hassan notoriously hard on braking. With the temperatures rising, the issue has intensified, with a number of drivers also experiencing braking problems in qualifying.
Dupont’s problem occurred half-way through Q1, when he crashed his Audi RS 3 LMS at Turn 1 when the brakes failed, sustaining significant damage to the right-hand side of the car which cannot be repaired at the circuit.
The team have withdrawn his car from this afternoon’s races where he had qualified 21st.
