Dan Lloyd targets full season after stunning start in TCR UK
Dan Lloyd leaves Silverstone with a strong lead of the TCR UK championship after scoring every point possible through qualifying and the races, with pole position and two race victories, and is targeting completing the full season with the WestCoast Racing team.
Lloyd dominated Race 1, and then surged through the reversed grid second race to win again, and now leads the standings on 91 points, 25 points clear of Team Pyro’s Ollie Taylor.
“We had a tough year last year, and when we get these opportunities we need to make it count,” said Lloyd to TouringCarTimes. “I’ve said it’s a one-race gig and we needed to show something, which we’ve done, so I’m over the moon.
“Everything’s been really positive this weekend both on and off track, we’ve had some good discussions. We’ve got a little break until the next one, and we’re going to make sure we make it happen.”
Lloyd’s first race victory was followed up by a strong driver in Race 2, moving up into the lead after just five laps ahead of team-mate Andreas Bäckman.
“I knew what I was going to do into the first corner, and that all worked, and then I knew I was going to be aggressive at the start, I had just one focus and that was to get to the front as quick as possible.”
