WTCR entry list officially confirmed for maiden season

The entry list for the inaugural FIA World Touring Car Cup has been officially revealed following the series’ media launch event in Barcelona.

A 25-car grid is in place for the new campaign, which gets underway in Morocco next month.

There are 26 drivers currently listed on the entry however after the announcement that Boutsen Ginion Racing test driver Benjamin Lessennes will race in place of Tiago Monteiro until the Portuguese driver is passed fit to return to competition following his accident last year.

Whilst the majority of the field had already been announced, the season launch saw the final two places on the grid filled, with James Thompson being named in the third Münnich Motorsport Honda Civic and Zsolt Szabó joining fellow countryman Norbert Nagy at Zengő Motorsport.

Teams will hit the track tomorrow [Thursday] for testing at the Catalunya circuit.
