Darelle Wilson to run Vauxhall Astra in TCR UK

Darelle Wilson has become the latest driver to confirm an entry into the new TCR UK Series for the inaugural season at the wheel of an Opel Astra TCR.

The 29-year-old former VW Cup driver tested the Astra in Germany before making a final decision on his participation in the series, and will join the grid for this weekend’s season opener at Silverstone.

Wilson’s car will rebadged as a Vauhall for the TCR UK programme, with the car having enjoyed race-winning success in a number of series as an Opel – including victories in TCR Germany and TCR Italy.

“My aim is still to aim for the skies,” he said. “I’m very much looking forward to whatever life throws at me and winning races in such a strong, competitive and highly regarded championships all over the world. The TCR UK championship will hopefully attract the sponsors I need to progress.

“Finishing on a high in the VW Cup, I can only hope to carry on and have the same success in TCR UK. The entry is based around a family team, so the budget needed is quite low, but I’m still looking for sponsors to come on board and enjoy the journey with us.”
