Top trio testing Alfa Romeo at Monza ahead of WTCR opener
A trio of leading drivers are set to hit the track at Monza in the Romeo Ferraris-built Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCRs that are set to feature on the WTCR grid this season.
Fabrizio Giovanardi, Gianni Morbidelli and Kevin Gleason will also spend time behind the wheel during a two-day test at the Italian circuit, with a pair of cars being run by the Mulsanne Racing team alongside engineers from Romeo Ferraris.
None of the three drivers have signed to race the cars in WTCR this season, with the trio having been called up to test thanks to their vast experience as development work on the Alfa Romeo continues.
“The 2018 season is almost around the corner, and we are ready,” Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager, said. “The Monza test will be useful to verify a number of details before the cars are sent to the collective test and Barcelona and then to Marrakech, for the season-opening event.
“We rely a lot on Fabrizio, Gianni and Kevin’s experience to have a last feedback on some set-up developments. We hope the weather will help, as it has been difficult to schedule testing during this tough winter, but we are confident on the work done at the factory by our personnel.”
