BRC Racing Team add TCR Italy programme
The BRC Racing Team has announced that it will run a two-car team in the TCR Italy series this season, alongside its programme in the new FIA World Touring Car Cup.
The team announced last month that it would field Gabriele Tarquini and Norbert Michelisz in WTCR this year, having run a pair of Hyundai i30 N TCRs in the final two rounds of the TCR International Series – and in the one-off TCR Europe Trophy – last season.
BRC will run Federico Paolino and Eric Scalvini in the Italian series, with the pair hoping to make the most of the expertise already gained by the team from its time running the Hyundai.
“I can’t wait to start this season in TCR Italy, which I am sure I will learn a lot from being my first year driving a TCR car,” Paolino said. “For this reason I wanted to go with the BRC Racing Team, which boasts great experience and a high level of professionalism.
“I had chance to try the i30 N TCR last fall, and the impressions were positive right from the start. In Alzenau I was able to work with Gabriele Tarquini and I hope the season will lead me to learn a lot from him in the tests we will do together. I’m anxiously waiting to get on the car at Imola’s debut race.”
“This new challenge attracts me and I am enthusiastic both about the new car and the new people I’ll be working with,” Scalvini added. “Collaborating with BRC Racing Team, who I know and have admired from a long time, is a source of pride for me. I will put my maximum efforts to repeat last year’s results and to fight for the title.
“The i30 N TCR impressed me positively and I intend to try it as much as possible to deepen my knowledge. I hope to have the chance to work with Tarquini and Michelisz, who will be involved in WTCR with the same team.”
