Target Competition confirm switch to TCR Europe and Hyundais
2015 TCR International Series and 2016-2017 TCR Germany championship winning squad Target Competition has confirmed it will move to the TCR Europe Series for this season, as well as switching car to the Hyundai i30 N TCR.
The team won the first season of the TCR International Series with Stefano Comini in a SEAT León, before starting the 2016 TCR Germany championship with a SEAT, quickly switching to the Honda Civic FK2 Type R TCR that took Josh Files to the title.
The team launched a massive assault on the 2017 TCR Germany championship, with four Hondas and four Audi RS 3 LMSs, with Files again taking the title, but the team has confirmed it will now depart TCR Germany after two seasons.
Instead it will run three i30s in the brand-new TCR Europe Series, with Reece Barr already confirmed as one of their drivers.
“We are really thankful for two successful years in ADAC TCR Germany,” said team owner Andreas Gummerer. “The decision was made by driver requests and we are happy that Reece Barr stays onboard with our new challenge.
“The relationship (with Hyundai) started in Adria Raceway for the TCR Europe Trophy finals. We have been impressed from the performance of the car and we are confident that we will have a very competitive package.”
