Wimmer Werk Motorsport reveals TCR Italy entry

The Wimmer Werk Motorsport team has become the latest to confirm plans to compete in the TCR Italy series durign the 2018 season.

The Austrian squad will field a pair of SEAT León cars fitted with DSG gearboxes in its first season in the seires, with Peter Gross and Günter Benninger named as the two drivers.

Prior to making the into the series, the team had campaigned a SEAT in 24H TCE Series last year, with team manager Felix Wimmer – who runs the team with brother Max – taking third in the standings alongside Matthias Kaiser; missing out on the title by just nine points.

“We are excited to face this new challenge in the TCR Italy,” Wimmer said. “We will run a León V2 for Gross and a V3 for Benninger. We are a young team, but we have a lot of enthusiasm.”
