Danny Kroes joins TCR Middle East field in Dubai
18-year-old Dutch driver Danny Kroes will race in this weekend’s round of the TCR Middle East International Series at the Dubai Autodrome, running in one of Pit Lane Competizioni’s Audi RS 3 LMS DSGs.
The Italian squad are running a mix of Audis and Volkswagens in this year’s Middle East series, which are on loan from the TCR Academy based at the Adria Raceway in Italy, with Kroes the latest driver confirmed to be running in of the of the cars in the short three-round championship.
Kroes had made his TCR International Series debut last year with Ferry Monster Autosport, racing at Oschersleben in July. There he drove a SEAT León TCR, two months after his touring car debut in the TCR Benelux Touring Car Championship at his home circuit of Zandvoort in The Netherlands in May, where he shared the same León TCR with touring car star Pepe Oriola.
Kroes scored points on his International Series debut with a ninth-place finish, despite starting from the back after a suspension issue in qualifying. He was on for a strong finish in the second race which had seen a number of front-runners drop out, before a recurring suspension issue plunged him into the barriers.
