Local additions expand TCR Europe entry to 20 cars
A number of last-minute additions to the field have expended the entry for the inaugural TCR Europe Trophy race at the Adria Raceway this weekend to 20 cars.
A handful of wild cards have been handed to a number of Italian drivers, who will start with no points in the Trophy, while all TCR national series regulars will have at best a five-point head-start before Saturday’s qualifying session.
Giovanni Altoè, the brother of Giacomo Altoè, and Sandro Pelatti will both run in privately entered Volkswagen Golfs, running with the direct-shift gearbox (DSG), while former Superstars Series front runners Giovanni Berton and Ermanno Dionisio will run a pair of Audi RS 3 LMSs, also equipped with the DSG.
Also entering the race will be TCR Italy driver Daniele Cappellario, racing in a DSG-equipped SEAT León TCR, with the organisers deciding to introduce a trophy for the seven DSG cars in the race.
The new entries bring the field up to 20 cars, though the previously announced Subaru WRX STi of Top Run Motorsport has now been withdrawn.
