Rob Huff ruled out of TCR season finale due to date change

Rob Huff will be ruled out of the TCR International Series finale at the newly rescheduled date in Dubai, due to clashing commitments in the World Touring Car Championship, leaving Team WRT having to find a replacement.

The TCR International Series has moved its season finale to the Dubai Autodrome the week before its originally scheduled event, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina.

As a result, the series last race will clash with the iconic event where it held its season finale for the past two years, the Macau Grand Prix, which this year hosts the penultimate round of the World Touring Car Championship.

With Huff committed to the WTCC, the 2012 world champion has been forced to relinquish his seat at Team WRT, where he’s been racing in support of Jean-Karl Vernay’s title bit in a partial campaign.

“I’m disappointed to not be able to see this season through, as I wanted to be there to support JK (Vernay) for the title,” Huff told TouringCarTimes.

“Obviously I’m also committed to the World Touring Car Championship, where I can still win the title, and Macau is also my favourite circuit where I’ve got a chance of taking a record tally of victories, so there’s no option really.

“It’s a shame not to see it through to the end. I’ll do my best this weekend for my final race with them in Zhejiang, and hopefully JK will be in a good place for the new finale in Dubai.”
