Fredrik Blomstedt sets the pace in opening Anderstorp test

Fredrik Blomstedt beat Kristoffersson Motorsport team-mate Fredrik Ekblom in the opening Scandinavian Touring Car Championship test at Anderstorp.

Blomstedt set a time of 1:38.132 to lead a Volkswagen Golf GTI one-two while Ekblom’s championship rival Robert Dahlgren only managed fourth in the PWR Racing SEAT León.

Nicklas Oscarsson slid off backwards at the track at the penultimate corner before hitting the barriers. The former Renault Clio driver managed to reverse out before returning to the pits. He took no further part in the session, finishing 19th.

Joonas Lappalainen headed the times early on, using the straight-line speed of his Audi RS 3 LMS to use to set a lap-time of 1:39.770, ultimately finishing eighth behind Honda driver Mattias Andersson in seventh and Audi colleague Micke Ohlsson in sixth.

Marcus Annervi enjoyed a rare trouble-free session in the Rent-a-Wreck Honda Civic. The engine issues which have plagued the team all year seemed to abate and the reigning Renault Clio champion ended a brilliant third after briefly setting the fastest time.

Series returnee Dennis Strandberg showed no signs of lethargy in getting back up to speed after missing the previous round in Karlskoga. Strandberg took the Lestrup Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI to the seventh fastest time.

Making his debut in a second Brovallen Audi RS 3 LMS was Joakim Darbom. The former Trofeo Abarth driver finished 15th on his first outing in the STCC.

The second test starts at 11:40 CET.
