Josh Price hoping practice pace returns on race day

Team BMR Subaru driver Josh Price was disappointed after qualifying in 17th (later 18th when Dynamics Honda’s Matt Neal’s time was restored), after setting the second fastest time in the second practice session at Snetterton.

The 18-year-old was 1.5 seconds off the ultimate pace of Honda driver Jack Goff in qualifying, and will start in the middle of the 31-car field in his re-liveried Subaru Levorg GT for the first race of the day today.

“We were a lot quicker than P17, so that’s a bit painful, but hopefully we’ll sort it in the morning,” said Price to TouringCarTimes.

“The new livery has come out a lot better than we thought it would. You don’t usually see red on a Subaru – so hopefully we’ll see it coming through to the front on race day.”

Price is confident the car’s race pace will be stronger than it showed in qualifying, where he is the third of the four Subaru drivers, with Ash Sutton third, Jason Plato ninth and James Cole 26th.

“The car’s good, the car’s quick. We’ll just have to see how it is compared to everyone else’s race pace. Doing a lap time and racing are quite different.”
