Citroën back to being the heaviest manufacturer for Argentina
The four privateer Citroën C-Elysée WTCCs will run with the maximum ballast for the next round of the World Touring Car Championship in Argentina, based on their performances since Hungary.
The top two drivers of each manufacturer’s qualifying and race performances from three rolling events is used to calculate the compensation weight, and with strong performances from Rob Huff in the Münnich-run car, and the Sébastien Loeb Racing entries of Mehdi Bennani and Tom Chilton in Hungary, Germany and Portugal, the independently-entered French cars will remain on the full ballast of 80kg
This means the Citroëns become the heaviest once again, as they were during the first two rounds of the season, though that time they only ran 50kg of ballast, but still 50kg more than all their competitors.
Two consecutive pole positions for Honda’s Norbert Michelisz have helped earn the Japanese cars an additional 10kg of ballast for Termas de Río Hondo, now running with 60kg, the same as the three Polestar Cyan Racing Volvo S60s, which have been allowed to remove 20kg of weight.
The Chevrolet Cruzes of Esteban Guerrieri and Tom Coronel have also dropped 20kg and will run with no ballast in Argentina, the same weight as the two RC Motorsport Lada Vestas of Yann Ehrlacher and Kevin Gleason.
