Aurélien Panis confirmed in TCR International with Boutsen Ginion Racing
French driver Aurélien Panis has confirmed his switch from the WTCC to the TCR International Series, joining the Belgian-based Boutsen Ginion Racing team from this weekend’s race at Oschersleben and for the remainder of the season.
Panis has split from the Zengo Motorsport team, which will replace him with a rotation of Hungarian drivers for the remainder of the season, and will drive a Honda Civic TCR with Boutsen-Ginion, with which he raced in the second round of the TCR Benelux series two months ago.
“I am very happy to join the Boutsen-Ginion Racing team for the end of the TCR International and also to continue the adventure with Honda in a competitive team,” said Panis. “While trying to fight for the best possible results, I am very excited to start this new challenge this weekend in Oschersleben, Germany.”
Boutsen-Ginion fielded two cars for Tom Coronel and Benjamin Lessennes at the Spa-Francorchamps round of the series in May, and run two cars in the TCR Benelux series where they currently lead the championship with Lessennes.
Team manager Olivier Lainé added: “We are delighted to welcome the French driver, Aurelien Panis, for the continuation of the TCR International Series at the wheel of the Honda Civic.
“Aurelien already drove for us in Zandvoort in TCR Benelux and posted very competitive lap times during a test day in Zolder.
Our team is therefore excited for a new challenge in this very high level series.”
