Luke Davenport “conscious and communicating”

Motorbase Performance has confirmed that their driver Luke Davenport is conscious and communicating following his crash in qualifying of the British Touring Car Championship weekend at Croft two weeks’ ago.

A statement from Davenport’s family read:
“Luke is getting much better. A huge thank you to everyone who has been in touch, it’s really helped us as family to support him through this difficult time. We have received cards and well wishes from the marshals, fans, extrication crew, medical staff, BTCC drivers, sponsors, staff and fans. We’ve even had messages from teams in Le Mans, Mexico City and New Zealand! The BTCC is a big family and we’re very grateful for the support.”

The 24-year-old has been in an induced coma and has undergone several rounds of surgery on his injuries from the crash. Davenport is now being moved to the high-dependency unit at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
