Kissling Motorsport accept the blame for homologation issue
Opel Astra TCR builders Kissling Motorsport have taken responsibility for the homologation paperwork issue which caused Mat’o Homola to be excluded from qualifying at the Hungaroring.
Homola, run by the Belgium-based DG Sport Compétition team in the TCR International Series, had all his times deleted after qualifying after securing fourth on the grid, when a radiator mount on the subframe was discovered to be missing from the Astra’s TCR technical passport after the gearbox was dismantled during scrutineering.
Kissling have accepted full responsibility for the issue, and have assured their customers this will not happen again.
“After qualifying, the vehicle was scrutineered by the technicians of TCR and checked,” said the Kissling statement. “When comparing the subframe with the homologation form, it was found that the radiator fittings were not included on the data sheet as a change.
“As everyone knows, a radiator holder does not provide any performance benefit, since these holders have only one purpose; to keep the radiator in position. But according to regulations, this should have been marked.
“It’s a very tough decision, especially for the team DG Sport and Mat’o Homola, who were not responsible for this error in documentation.
“We, Kissling Motorsport, bear responsibility for this and will be more focussed on our efforts in the future. Our next race is at Oschersleben where TCR International and TCR Germany will take part in the same event. We’ll give our everything – thanks to our great customer teams, and we are very sure that we will have be in the podium fight.”
