Jamie Green leads all-Audi top five in second free practice
Audi Sport driver Jamie Green set the fastest lap time in the second free practice session at the Hungaroring, with the Ingolstadt-based cars taking the top five positions.
The Team Rosberg driver was fastest of all, with a time of 1:35.674, followed by Team Abt’s Nico Müller 0.048 seconds behind. Mike Rockenfeller was third, followed by Mattias Ekström and Green’s Rosberg team-mate René Rast, three-tenths off the pace.
Maro Engel was the fastest of the Mercedes AMGs in sixth, seven-tenths behind Green, with the BMWs of Timo Glock and Augusto Farfus next. The Mercedes of Lucas Auer was ninth, just under a second off the pace. Audi’s Loïc Duval completed the top ten.
Although the conditions were dry and clear, drivers struggled for grip, with Duval, Glock, BMW’s Maxime Martin and Bruno Spengler, Rast and Mercedes’ Edoardo Mortara having lap times deleted because of exceeding the track limits. The session was largely trouble-free, with the only incident was when René Rast went wide at Turn 11, and collided with a corner marker, but there was no damage to his RS 5 DTM.
Next is qualifying for Race 1, which is scheduled for 11:40 CET.
