Dennis Strandberg secures Maximum seat for Croft
Swede Dennis Strandberg will make his debut in the BTCC this weekend at Croft after being named by Maximum Motorsport as the replacement for Josh Cook.
The 23-year-old tested the team’s Ford Focus at Snetterton last season and will now make his series debut during the fifth meeting of the campaign in North Yorkshire.
Maximum was forced to bring in a replacement after Cook returned to Triple Eight following the departure of Dan Lloyd, who has since gone on to ink a deal to compete in TCR.
The deal with Strandberg ensures that a full grid of 32 cars will compete this weekend.
“We are delighted to welcome Dennis to the BTCC,” team boss Stewart Lines said. “We have worked with Dennis in recent years and we think he’s a really exciting prospect. At Maximum we pride ourselves on giving young drivers a chance and we’re looking forward to seeing how Dennis gets on in our Ford Focus.”
Strandberg has previously competed with Maximum in the Volkswagen Racing Cup, and has also got previous experience of the British GT Championship and the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, where he currently sits seventh in the standings.
