Mercedes gain weight for the first DTM race of 2017
The performance weights have been calculated for the first DTM race of 2017 at Hockenheim this afternoon, with the results obtained from the qualifying session where all three teams started with the base weight of 1,125kg.
Lucas Auer’s pole position lap was the best ideal lap for Mercedes AMG, with a time of 1:30.849. The same applies to BMW and Audi, with Timo Glock’s 1:31.161 and Nico Müller’s 1:31.490 being the best ideal laps respectively.
These results mean that both BMW and Audi are slower than the 0.2% of Mercedes’ lap time and both manufacturers will lose 5kg while Mercedes AMG gains 5kg.
The performance weights for Race 1 at Hockenheim are as follows:
Manufacturer – Car- Base weight – Variation – Performance weight
Mercedes AMG – C63 DTM – 1,125 – +5kg + 1,130kg
Audi – RS 5 DTM – 1,125 – -5kg + 1,120kg
BMW – M4 DTM – 1,125 – -5kg + 1,120kg
