Rafael Lobato wins first TCR Iberian race at Estoril

Portuguese driver Rafael Lobato, at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS, was the first winner of the TCR Iberian series in the race held at Estoril this afternoon.

Pole position was for Portuguese driver Francisco Abreu at the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR. Abreu led in the initial stages, but was overtaken by Lobato after two laps.

Reigning TCR Portugal champion Francisco Mora was third with his SEAT León TCR, followed by Manuel Giao and Manuel Pedro Fernandes.

Amalia Vinyes was the first of the TCR Spain participants, in sixth position with her SEAT León TCR. The other Spanish representative, Lluis Llobet, was 12th and last. José Pedro Faria was tenth in the maiden race for the KIA C’eed TCR.

Nine of the 12 cars entered will have different drivers tomorrow, as car sharing is permitted in the TCR Iberian Series. Race 2 is scheduled for 14:50 CET.
