Gianni Morbidelli hoping for improvements in time to challenge for the title
Gianni Morbidelli scooped up a point earlier today for WestCoast Racing in Bahrain, finishing tenth after a race-long battle with Comtoyou’s Stefano Comini, which included a bit of rubbing. Despite only scoring ten points so far this year, the Volkswagen driver is optimistic as the team continues to learn about the new-for-them car.
“For sure we want to go quicker, we are lacking some speed”, admitted the former Grand Prix driver. “We are all working to find it, and we will, hopefully in time to maintain a title challenge this year. The car is very solid and I know the team can do a good job.”
The pace of the car was encouraging according to the Italian, who visited his former team Sauber earlier in the weekend: “Today I had some good racing with Comini and made a lot of places in race two, so there are some things to be positive about.”
Morbidelli’s best result so far is seventh in the second race in Georgia.
