Adam Morgan given half-a-second penalty for Race 1 pass

Ciceley Mercedes driver Adam Morgan has been dropped one position thanks to a half-a-second penalty at Donington Park, after the Mercedes driver’s pass on Team Dynamics Honda driver Gordon Shedden on lap ten was deemed illegal.

Morgan made a move on the grass along the main straight at the start of lap ten, passing the reigning champion, and would go on to finish seventh.

The stewards imposed a half-second penalty which drops him to eighth, and hands Shedden back a point in the drivers’ standings.

Shedden now leads by three points over Speedworks’ Tom Ingram, while Morgan is now ten points behind in third, just one ahead of BMW’s Rob Collard.

Morgan will still carry the 27kg of success ballast for the second race which he would have carried should his seventh position stood.
