No points awarded for abandoned race at Symmons Plains
The Supercars Championship organisers have confirmed that no points will be awarded for today’s race at Symmons Plains, after the race was red-flagged after a multi-car crash on lap three.
Lucas Dumbrell Motorsports and Walkinshaw Racing have reported that the cars of Taz Douglas and James Courtney are not repairable for Race 4 tomorrow, while Tekno Autosports’ Will Davison has been taken to hospital for medical checks complaining of back pain.
The Holden Triple Eight team have been classed as the winners of the race, with Shane van Gisbergen leading Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes to a top three lock-out, but no championship points will be awarded for the race.
Speechless… 😶
Almost a third of the field is wiped out on the run-down to Turn 4.
This is massive. Symmons Plains is a car park. #VASC pic.twitter.com/FVBlLWfXTh
