Power Maxed Racing debuts new Vauxhall Astra
Power Maxed Racing has debuted the new Vauxhall Astra it will use for the 2017 BTCC season after Senna Proctor turned the firsts in the car at Donington Park.
The team will run two cars this season for Proctor and Tom Chilton with manufacturer support from Vauxhall – who return to the series in a ‘works’ capacity for the first time since 2009.
Having been built in house by the team in recent months, the Astra will now undergo a series of tests in the coming weeks with both cars set to appear in their full livery at the annual Media Day event later this month.
“It is a very proud moment for our car to take to the circuit for the first time,” team boss Adam Weaver said. “We started building the Astra just before Christmas and to see it turning a wheel is a special feeling for the team. There has been a lot of hard work put into this programme already and these are still our first steps.
“The initial mileage isn’t really a test for us, it is an extended shakedown and a systems check. We have work to do, but there is no pressure with this first test.”
