FRD continue development of the Ford Focus TCR in Malaysia
Progress continues on the development of the Ford Focus TCR in Malaysia, with the Hong Kong-based FRD Team in charge of the development of the car, with four-time CTCC drivers’ champion Andy Yan testing the car at Sepang earlier this week.
FRD Team took over the development of the Focus TCR from UK-based Onyx Race Engineering at the start of last year. The car made three appearances during the course of the season, with their CTCC driver Martin Cao racing the car in Singapore, before Dutchman Nicky Pastorelli was recruited to drive at the penultimate round of the season in Malaysia.
Team owner/driver Kenneth Ma then took over the reins at the season finale in Macau, but with a competitive entry for the Guia Race 2.0T, the Hong Kong driver failed to qualify, with the car remaining in the garage for most of the weekend.
Andy Yan, the 2016 TCR Asia Series champion and four-time CTCC drivers’ champion, tested the redeveloped Ford Focus TCR at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia yesterday, as the team continues to improve the car ahead of a potential programme in TCR International, Asia and the new TCR China series for 2017.
