Dan Lloyd admits delight at full-time BTCC role
Dan Lloyd admits he is thrilled to have secured a full-time place on the BTCC grid for the 2017 season after the announcement that he will join MG for the year ahead.
Lloyd will team with Aron Taylor-Smith in an all-new line-up at the wheel of the two MG6 GTs being entered by Triple Eight team again this year; marking a return to the team that gave him his BTCC debut in a Vauxhall Vectra back in 2010.
The 24-year-old had been tipped to join Eurotech this year on the back of three impressive outings last year in a Honda Civic, but said he was confident that the MG deal would given him a strong chance of success on track.
“I’m really excited,” he said. “The majority of my racing has been rear wheel drive so really looking forward to continuing to learn in the front wheel drive car. I loved the BTCC last year during the three rounds I competed in. I was very keen to make a full return and am delighted to have got the opportunity with MG RCiB Racing.
“I made my BTCC debut as a one off with Triple Eight way back in 2010 when I was obviously very young at Croft; it will be great to be back within the team.
“I also get on really well with Aron. Obviously he is very quick so I think we can bounce off each other.”
