TCR European Trophy eligibility rules announced
The TCR European Trophy has changed shape this year, with a single event replacing the multi-event format used last year, when Pierre-Yves Corthals became the first European champion of the category.
In order to qualify for the event, competitors will have to enter one of the European-based TCR regional/national championships, which include Benelux, Germany, Ibérico, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Scandinavia and Spain, as well as the 24h TCER Series and the VLN. Alternatively, drivers may take part in four events from Spa-Francorchamps, Salzburgring, Hungaroring, Oschersleben and the event to be held on May, 28th, which was previously scheduled to take place in Monaco and is now listed as TBA.
Full-season entrants will have five points awarded, while race-by-race entrants will receive one point per event in which they have taken part. The top three drivers in the trophy will receive a road car of the same brand they have raced for in the event.
The organisation does not rule out scheduling qualifying races depending on the number of entrants.
The TCR European Trophy will take place in Adria on October, 29th.
