CTCC cars given 80kg adjustment in Balance of Performance at Macau
The four remaining China Touring Car Championship specification cars were given a 60kg adjustment in Balance of Performance ahead of qualifying, which has been increased to 80kg ahead of today’s two races in order to equalise the difference in pace between them and the TCR-specification cars.
The weight break means the CTCC spec cars are now running lighter than four of the TCR class cars; the Honda Civic, the two models of SEAT León and the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR. The only TCR car to run lighter than the CTCC cars is the Alfa Romeo Giuiletta, which is running at 1,225kg with -40kg of ballast.
The SEAT León DSG of Antti Buri has been granted a 10mm reduction in ride height, while the CTCC cars are running at +20mm in order to balance the performance.
The best-placed CTCC car for the first race is the Teamwork Citroën C-Elysée of Sunny Wong, who starts 15th on the grid, one spot ahead of team-mate Alex Hui.
The Volkswagen of Neric Wei, the SEAT León of Edgar Lau and the Honda Civic of James Tang are also carrying 20kg of additional ballast as they’ve run the softer Yokohama tyres during the weekend.
