Andrew Jordan signs two-year West Surrey Racing deal

Andrew Jordan has agreed a multi-year deal that will see him spearhead WSR’s assault on the British Touring Car Championship for the next two seasons.

Jordan joins the BMW team on the back of a season that saw him secure the Independents’ title for a third time; securing two wins during the year at the wheel of a Motorbase-run Ford Focus.

The 27-year-old will compete under the Pirtek Racing banner thanks to the ongoing partnership with long-term backed Pirtek, with the title sponsorship agreement going into its eighth season next year.

Jordan is the first driver to be confirmed by WSR for next season, with talks ongoing regarding the vacant seats within the team.

“Once it became clear that I wouldn’t be staying with Motorbase for a second season, we considered the options that were available and after speaking to Dick Bennetts, there was very quickly no doubt in my mind that West Surrey Racing was where I wanted to be,” Jordan said.

“It’s been clear to see in recent years how good the BMW package is and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel to start testing, which will hopefully be before the end of the month.

“It might take me a little bit of time to get used to the car during testing, but I’m sure that when we get to Brands Hatch to start the 2017 campaign, we’ll be right on the pace and will be able to kick-start our season as we mean to go on.

“To have signed up for two years is fantastic not only for myself, but also for Pirtek and my other sponsors, as we know there is the continuity to build something special across the next two years. I have no doubt that the Pirtek Racing colours will look as fantastic as ever on the BMW and I just want to get started.”

WSR boss Dick Bennetts was understandably pleased to be able to bring the 2013 title winner onboard for the next two years.

“It’s great to welcome Andrew Jordan and Pirtek Racing to WSR,” he said. “Andrew is one of the fastest and most successful drivers in the BTCC and crucially knows how to win a championship.

“Being able to announce this exciting news in November enables us to make the best possible use of the time available between now and the start of the 2017 season and kick off our winter testing programme with Andrew before the end of the month.

“The team have been working hard on the development of the BMW to make sure we’re title contenders again next year.”
