Finland could get STCC round in expanded 2017 calendar
The Scandinavian Touring Car Championship organisation has confirmed an evaluation to expand the calendar for 2017 and that Finland could be included.
”I think we are going to go up from seven to eight races and we have a dialogue with a circuit in Finland. We have a couple of Finnish teams on the way in, visiting us tomorrow, and that would motivate a race there,” said Jonas Lundin, MD of STCC AB, to na.se.
The organisation is also planning for a new street race in the Swedish city Örebro for 2018, a race that could have happened for this season.
”We are positive to a street race in Örebro and there were plans for a race already this year. What finally made it not possible to solve was that the available area was not enough for a proper STCC circuit,” said Lundin.
STCC AB has stated that they intend to release the 2017 calendar ”within three weeks.”
