Dacia withdraws from STCC following TCR switch in 2017
Dacia Dealer Team will leave the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship after the 2016 season following the switch to TCR regulations next year.
”Solution–F (TTA) is replaced by TCR in 2017 that for now ends the four year long and successful relationship between Mattias Andersson and Renault Nordic and Dacia,” stated the team in a press release.
Dacia entered the championship in 2013 with Mattias Andersson and has since then claimed eleven podium finishes, with fifth (2015) as the best overall result in the drivers’ championship.
The reason for the manufacturer leaving the championship is that they have no car classed for the TCR regulations. Andersson meanwhile is hoping to be on the grid next year, although revealing no details on how.
”I like to race and I am driven by the will to win. I would like to continue in the STCC,” said Andersson.
