Consistent race helped James Nash regain championship lead

James Nash came third in the Craft-Bamboo SEAT, finishing just ahead of title rival Stefano Comini, thus re-taking the championship lead he had lost yesterday. The Brit did a cautious and consistent race to take the best possible result.

“I just focussed on doing the best I could and avoid mistakes,” said the Lukoil-backed driver. “I had quite a consistent race.”

Nash admitted the two safety car periods helped him as he was struggling with the extra weight he was carrying: “I was helped by the two safety-car periods as it helped breaking the fast pace of the race, which I could hardly stand because of the extra weight I was carrying.”

Despite being happy with the championship lead, Nash believes things keep changing really fast and it doesn’t really matter until the championship goes to Macau: “It’s, of course, a good result towards the standings, although everything keeps changing all the time. We know in any case that it is going to be a 4-way battle straight until the very end. Everything will be decided in Macau.”

Nash is in his first year in the TCR International Series.
