Pepe Oriola surprised with huge gaps in Singapore qualifying
Title contender Pepe Oriola came fifth in today’s qualifying at Singapore. Despite being happy with the result, the Craft-Bamboo driver admitted he is suprised with the gaps, as the Lukoil-backed driver was nine tenths off the pace.
“I pushed well and I am happy with my lap time”, said the Spaniard. “I am very surprised of the gaps though, it is hard to believe.”
Oriola believes the lack of grip on the Marina Bay Street Circuit may have highlighted the BoP advantage the Volkswagen Golf has over the SEAT: “Maybe on a track with so little grip as this one, the Balance of Performance differences are magnified.”
Oriola is now six points behind championship leader and team-mate James Nash, and has Leopard Racing’s Stefano Comini two points behind him in third.
