WTCC cars complete shakedown run at Motegi

A field of 19 TC1 cars completed a pair of short three-lap shakedown runs at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan on Friday evening, in lieu of the traditional test session as part of the championship’s cost reduction measures.

The shakedown run has replaced the 30-minute test session, often referred to as “FP0” for the flyaway events of this year’s calendar, which is run to allow the teams to check the cars and systems post-freight, in this case air freight from the last round in Termas de Río Hondo, Argentina to Japan.

All laps are set behind the safety car and as a result they’re untimed.
