Mercedes AMG fattens up for Race 1 in Moscow

The eight Mercedes C63 DTM on track at the Moscow Raceway will take on five additional kg of weight, with the performance weights having been calculated after the qualifying session for Race 1.

Gary Paffett’s pole lap of 1:41.443 was also the best ideal lap of any Mercedes AMG driver, setting the reference for the calculations.

Timo Scheider set the best ideal lap for Audi Sport, with an aggregated time of 1:42.043, whilst António Félix Da Costa did the honours with a best ideal lap of 1:42.386. Both ideal laps were better than the actual qualification registers for both drivers.

With the data in hand, Mercedes AMG’s best ideal lap is a 0.2% faster than both its competitors. This means that the C63 DTMs will take on five kg, taking their new base weight to 1,132.5 kg, the heaviest in the field.

Audi Sport and BMW Motorsport will lose five kg each, with the RS 5 DTMs now racing at 1,122.5 kg, whilst the M4 DTMs will be at 1,110 kg.

Race 1 is scheduled for 13.30 local time.
