Uruguayan driver debut cancelled due to lack of time to check the car

Uruguayan driver Mauricio Lambiris’ announced debut at Termas de Rio Hondo will not take place as Zengo Motorsport decided they did not have enough time to perform the necessary mechanical checks in order to get the car ready to race.

The agreement was already subject to the ability to get the car ready, as after Ferenc Ficza’s health issue prevented the driver from going to Argentina, the team only brought six mechanics to take care Nagy’s car.

“This is a world championship and the car has to be 100 per cent ready,” said team owner Zoltan Zengo. “With six people only in Argentina the priority is the car of Daniel Nagy and this is what we explained to the manager of Mauricio from the start.”

When Nagy’s car needed an engine change, it was clear the other car could not be ready in time: “After the Vila Real race, the car of Ficza was put in the container, taken here and put in the garage but the time to check the gearbox, the differential, the driveshaft, everything is too short. There has also been the problem with the engine of Nagy’s car, which the team has been working on late last night and early this morning.”

Lambiris was critical of the team on Twitter, as he said: “I am very disappointed with the team. I thought they were more serious. It’s a shame that after such an effort we will not be able to race.”

Zengo will therefore only run Nagy’s car at Termas de Rio Hondo.
