Cameraman escapes injury after dramatic Snetterton startline crash
An ITV cameraman has escaped serious injury after a scary accident at the start of the third British Touring Car Championship race at Snetterton.
The incident immediately after the start saw Hunter Abbott’s Power Maxed Racing Chevrolet Cruze tapped into a barrel roll and into a TV tower, which fell to the ground.
Fortunately, the cameraman was able to walk away from the incident.
The accident happened when Team BKR’s Mark Howard and Team Parker Racing’s Alex Martin made contact, which caused him to hit the pitwall.
When Abbott tried to avoid Howard, he clipped the Volkswagen and was launched into a barrel roll. The flying Chevrolet lost a wheel before running up the catch fence and knocking over the camera tower.
AmD Tuning’s Ollie Jackson was also caught up in the accident and stopped on the pit straight in his Audi S3.
The cameraman in the tower has been given the OK from the medics.
