James Nash looking for a win despite joint championship lead

James Nash was twice on the podium today at Oschersleben, Germany, scoring two third places for Craft-Bamboo Lukoil. The Brit now leads the championship tied on points with team-mate Pepe Oriola, but he is now determined to win a race after taking victory just once at Estoril, Portugal.

“Pepe (Oriola) has more wins and that’s what I’m lacking at the moment,” admitted Nash. “I need to focus on this side at the moment. I’m a slightly different driver, Pepe is more aggressive and I’m more consistent, which is a good mix for the team but also for us, as we can see where the differences are.”

Despite the good result, Nash did not enjoy the first race in particular, as he struggled due to the weight: “I did not have fun in Race 1, I didn’t enjoy it. I was quite happy with my second place, because I was struggling quite a lot. I believe the ballast was hurting me. I saw Dusan coming on the last lap, I covered it but I wasn’t going to do more than that, I didn’t want to retire from the race, a third place was better. I thought of the championship, you have to take these points when you can.”

After a costly double zero scored in Italy, Nash bagged 30 points both in Austria and in Germany.
