Mat’o Homola looking for maiden TCR win
Mat’o Homola came second in qualifying at Oschersleben, Germany. The Slovakian had looked strong all weekend, but eventually had to surrender to B3 Racing team-mate Dusan Borkovic.
Despite the setback, Homola is happy with the result: “I am obviously happy with my second place,” said the Slovakian. “We could have pulled this off in Spa-Francorchamps already, but I made a mistake on that occasion. It’s a very good result for B3 Racing, and we are improving race by race. We will see what tomorrow brings.”
Like Borkovic, Homola doesn’t like slow tracks, but still performed well at Oschersleben, and is looking for a win tomorrow: “I don’t like slow tracks, I like faster layouts, but based on our qualifying results it seems like I am good at that. We improved every session, also as a team, so it’s a good result for us. I collected all positions from second to fifth, hopefully I will manage to win tomorrow!”
When asked about the start, and particularly the infamous Turn 1 at Oschersleben, Homola is adamant he and Borkovic will make sure they will not touch: “I don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow,” said the B3 Racing driver to TouringCarTimes. “Of course we need to be careful, but this is racing. Anything can happen and it is unpredictable, especially seconds after the start. We are team-mates, so we need to be careful. We want to bag a lot of points, and there is also a Race 2 to do, so I think we will be careful. We’ll see what the others do, though!”
Mat’o Homola is sixth in the championship, just 14 points off championship leader Stefano Comini, despite not having won any races so far.
