The BMW M4 DTM becomes the heaviest car for Race 2
The performance weights for the second race of the third round of the 2016 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season, held at the Lausitzring this weekend, have been calculated. Lucas Auer set the pole position for Mercedes AMG, but it will be BMW Motorsport who become the heaviest contingent on the grid.
Lucas Auer also set the best ideal lap for Mercedes AMG, with a register of 1:16.797. Timo Glock did likewise for BMW Motorsport, with a best ideal time of 1:16.873. Jamie Green was the best man for Audi Sport, with an ideal lap of 1:16.999.
With Mercedes AMG being the fastest manufacturer, BMW Motorsport is within the 0.1% of their time. Audi Sport, however, is over the 0.2% mark.
Thus, the Mercedes AMG C63 DTMs and the BMW M4 DTMs will take on five kilos, with a new base weight of 1,115 kg and 1,122.5 kg respectively. The Audi RS 5 DTMs lose five kilos, resulting in a new base weight of 1,120 kg.
The start of Race 2 is scheduled for 15:13 CEST.
