Gianni Morbidelli concerned with high temperatures
Gianni Morbidelli scored pole position in qualifying at Imola, Italy. The WestCoast Racing driver is happy with pole position, but with the high temperatures always an issue for the Honda Civic TCR, he is not fully serene ahead of today’s races.
“Of course I am happy,” said the Italian to TouringCarTimes. “There is no doubt we were quick in qualifying, but I am waiting to see what happens in the races, when the temperatures are expected to be even higher.”
Morbidelli was shocked when he saw Oriola’s pace, as the Craft-Bamboo Lukoil driver fought very closely with the home hero for pole: “I can’t believe how quick he is, after the struggles they had in Portugal with the weight I thought they would have more difficulties than this. With the ups and downs of Imola, I genuinely thought Pepe would struggle. I will have to work hard during the races.”
Morbidelli is now second in the championship, one point behind Oriola and one ahead of James Nash.
