Fourth win from five races for Fredrik Lestrup in Zandvoort

Swedish driver Fredrik Lestrup has taken his fourth win in the DTC Series in Race 1 in Zandvoort, taking the win in his Besaplast Racing MINI John Cooper Works by almost five seconds ahead of Wolf Racing’s Heiko Hammel, extending his points lead to 12.

The two drivers qualified first and second, with Hammel passing Lestrup’s MINI at the start, but the Swede attacked the German two corners later, although this allowed the Kia Cee’d of Alexander Rambow briefly ahead, before they soon moved back ahead, with Lestrup now back on point and able to build up a lead over the remaining 14 laps.

During the first lap battle, Milenko Vukovic managed to get his Audi A3 ahead of Rambow’s Kia and went on to secure third, while Steve Kirsch finished fifth, with the TCR Germany driver making a one-off return in a Bastuck Motorsport-run Ford Fiesta.

Dick Lauth took his third win of the season in the MINI Racing Team entry in Production 1 (1.6 litre cars), and is now 16 points ahead Ralf Glatzel’s Ford Fiesta, while the Production 2 (Volkswagen Scirocco Cup class) cars are not on the schedule for this weekend.

The second race of the weekend takes place on Sunday 15.25 CET.
